a) Landscaping in front of school
Mike Kean leads discussion around cleaning up the gardens around the front of the school, including the bushes at the front by the office that just collect litter. Request in the next newsletter for volunteers to come out and assist in the cleanup on Saturday, November 10, 2007. They can contact Mike Kean. The Grade 3 classes are studying plants, perhaps they could work the gardens into the curriculum. Tom Lowe will enquire with Conservation Authority around creating a natural butterfly habitat. The memorials in the garden will be moved in the spring.
b) MOTION #0703: (Kerri Chisholm): Funds to be set aside exclusively for Kindergarten use between $500 - $1000:Deferred to next meeting.
Discussion followed regarding the Arts Programs for the entire school and that Kindergarten students do not get the same opportunities as the rest of the students. The logistics around adding Kindergarten programs is difficult due to the short time that students are in school. It was decided that this motion would be deferred until the next meeting until we could have specific ideas, including prices, about extra programs for the Kindergarten children.
c) Kiss N Ride:
The safety of the students walking to school was discussed, especially around the non-patrolled area at the North Driveway. Tom Lowe suggested adding Grade 6 students as patrols to ensure the safety of the walking students.
d) Golden Boot Award Idea:
Kerri Chisholm suggests an award to the class that has the cleanest hall area each month. Leo or George could be the judge.
MOTION #0704 (Kerry Chisholm): Request $100 for the Golden Boot Award
Second: Laurie Pebesma

Thanks to all volunteers. The children had a wonderful time, “sweatin’ to the oldies”.
Liam C. won the award for most funds raised! Congratulations!
Gross Total raised: $6,713.45.
h) Teacher Appreciation:
Sharon Lennie arranged for a gift of homemade jams/preserves to be given to each teacher. Feedback was very positive. Budget of not more than $5.00 per teacher.
i) Healthy Posters:
Posters were shown of sports activities incorporating vegetables and fruits into the images. These posters cost $10.00 each and could be placed throughout the school. The council will consider these posters into the subsequent meetings around the budget.
